Food Security Programming in Africa

A thematic review was performed to assess and generate evidence to strengthen World Vision’s Food Security programming in Africa in order to improve the well-being of children. The review has synthesized data from interviews with more than 100 stakeholders. In addition, 5 NO case studies (Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Mozambique and Ethiopia) have been conducted to generate in-depth information reflecting the extent to which combinations of programming and contextual factors have yielded or constrained FS outcomes in contexts such as: emergency (new and protracted), transitional (from emergency to development), stable (with endemic and acute FS and nutrition problems). World Vision has a large Food Security programming portfolio in Africa. The organization is well known for its food-oriented programming, and is the largest partner of the United Nations World Food Programm.
